The team members at Heritage House '76 work together to save and change lives by providing tools and resources which point toward the right and Godly choice. This mission is accomplished through a team culture that values both truth and love in our internal and external interactions.
Our team members value each other based on the truth that all are of equal infinite value according to God’s sacrifice. This truth expresses itself in love that is slow to take offense, quick to forgive, and always considering what is best for each other. We value truthful interaction that is marinated in loving concern and look for ways to challenge each other in fulfilling our mission of saving and changing lives.
Our team members also value our customers and strive to work hand in hand with them to save and change lives. We partner with our customers to achieve this great goal by providing professional products and services that make an impact both now and for eternity. We show our customers concern, compassion, understanding, and excellent service because we are struggling together to bring God’s love and truth to this world.
Finally, we recognize the importance of our work as we come under God’s teaching that each human being is valuable. We know the infinite worth of the unborn, the inherent beauty of each mother, the importance of every father, and the value of the elderly soul. We work together in grace and truth to save and change lives because each life is valuable to God.
Our Statement Against Violence
We oppose any form of violence in the name of Pro-Life and believe the very term is the antithesis of violence. As Christians, we are called to abhor the sin of abortion, yet to love all of God's people. This is not a love that overlooks wrong, rather, it recognizes the worth of every individual. Christ died for the born and the unborn. If we offer violence and hatred, how are we any different than the rest of the world? If we, instead, offer the love of Christ, then we give our enemies a glimpse of God.
Shouldn't we all take a strong stand against abortion?' Of course! And to Pro-Lifers around the country, the violence at clinics is sickening. Yet, that violence no more negates the moral wrong of abortion than the violence of the Civil War negated the moral wrong of slavery. As long as innocent human beings are being legally killed in this nation, the Pro-Life movement will fight for their right to life - please do it in love.
On January 22, 1974, Virginia and Ellis Evers ran across a full-page ad in their local newspaper in San Diego, California. Prominent in the ad was a picture of the tiny feet of a ten-week-old unborn baby held between a man's fingers and thumb. Inspired by the remarkable photo, Virginia Evers felt these little feet would be the ideal Pro-Life symbol. With love and dedication for the unborn, Virginia designed the "Precious Feet" lapel pin.
In 1979, at a world-wide symposium in Dublin, Ireland the "Precious Feet" were named the "International Pro-Life Symbol." Since that time over 11,000,000 have been distributed throughout the world.
In 1991, Virginia and Ellis retired with the consolation that their ministry would continue through their daughter and son-in-law, Dinah and Mike Monahan. For six years the Monahan's took pregnant young women into their home under the "We Care" program sponsored by the Heritage House.
Today we are expanding our Pro-Life efforts by focusing on the cause and prevention of abortion. Chastity and abstinence will help to prevent contraceptive abortion in our country. They will reduce the number of children born into single-parent families, decrease welfare costs and help curb the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. Chastity begins in the home. Our families are the answer.
